The Morality, Altruism, and Prosociality Lab (MAP Lab) investigates the psychological machinery of exceptional prosociality — forms of altruism that maximize impact and transcend parochial boundaries — with the goal of inspiring individual and collective action to address both present (e.g., preventable illness, poverty, inequality) and future (e.g., future pandemics, climate change, emerging technologies) global challenges. More broadly, we explore how people contemplate big questions about right and wrong, the nature of existence, what it means to live well, and their place in time.
